International Study Environment Award
Award to further the international study environment
A new award focuses on improving the international study environment. The aim is to attract and keep brilliant international students to the benefit of both Danish students and teachers at the University of Copenhagen - and in the long term the Danish knowledge society in general.
The prize is awarded to a teacher, a student, or a board of studies/department/faculty who has done something extraordinary to improve the international study environment. Besides the honour of winning, the award also comes with DKK 100,000. The money, which is sponsored by the Danish Bankers Association, must be used to further improvements of the international study environment.
Students and staff are welcome to send reasoned nominations of people/units at the University that should be considered for the award before 7 September 2009.
All nominations are welcomed whether it relates to teaching/education, counselling, communications, or academic/social activities. Maybe the special initiative is still only being designed, or it has already been launched but has room for improvement or can be spread further out. It will be an advantage if the initiative meets one or more of the listed criteria:
- promotes communication, integration and networking between international students and Danish students/teachers at the University - preferably across fields of study, departments and faculties, and in the shape of concrete ideas on how to integrate international and Danish students academically and socially, as that is a particular problem today with international students living in their own social sphere.
- benefits a large number of international and Danish students now and in the future.
- offers a service particularly relevant to international students.
- furthers the diversity of the University.
- is rooted in an academically well-functioning international study environment.
